As a myTrip operator, you can use Passenger as a host for the Bus Open Data Service (BODS) if you’d like to. You can either:

  1. Use Passenger to host and act as an ‘Agent’ to set it up, or
  2. Use Passenger to host, but manage it yourselves.

Passenger acting as host and agent

Hi myTrip Help Desk,

I hope you're having a great week. We've decided to take you up on your offer to host our data for BODS.

Please take this email as an authorisation that we’d like Passenger to act as an agent for the following data:

  • TransXChange (TXC)
  • SIRI-VM (also known as Automatic Vehicle Location or AVL for short)
  • [Delete as appropriate]

You’ll get an invite from us shortly to manage our BODS account.

Kind regards,

  • You need to create an account with BODS, if you haven’t already done so
  • Then simply add Passenger as a user to that account, with the email address: agent@passengerteam.com This will send an email to our Help Desk and we will complete the steps to set up your BODS hosting for you
  • We’ll let you know when we have linked the data in your BODS account
  • Get yourself a cup of tea! There’s nothing more to do.

Passenger to host, but managing it yourself

  • Create an account with BODS (if you haven’t already done so)
  • Once you’re live in myTrip, you can get the link for your TransXChange data from Passenger’s Open Data page https://data.discoverpassenger.com/
  • Go to your individual operator page and copy the link to your ‘current’ TXC dataset, e.g. https://data.discoverpassenger.com/operator/[operator name]/dataset/current/download/txc
  • Paste the URL into the right place in your BODS account
  • Once connected, the data on BODS will automatically update so you won’t need to do this again.
  • If you would like Passenger to host your AVL data too, we’ll need to act as your agent for this. But that’s straightforward to request, just follow the ‘agent’ steps above.
  • Make a cup of tea and celebrate a job well done!
